Casting and Splinting for Patients with Diabetes

17 Mar, 2018

Diabetic patients often have skin conditions that require a hygienic, breathable, custom alternative to traditional casting and splinting.

Patients with diabetes can have skin problems associated with the disease, including digital sclerosis, eruptive xanthomatosis, disseminated granuloma annulare, diabetic blisters, bacterial and fungal infections.  These conditions are difficult to manage with traditional casting and splinting options.  Visualization and treatment of the skin is difficult, and there is often skin irritation, itching, rubbing, and skin ulcers can develop.

With ActivArmor, the device can be custom designed to expose problem areas.  The hygienic, breathable design allows for bathing and treatment of the skin.  Visualization and inspection of the skin is easy without having to remove the orthosis.
