ActivArmor™ devices are custom-fit, but also adjustable, and can accommodate swelling.

ActivArmor can reduce the risk of compartment syndrome, because (unlike traditional casts), swelling is instantly visible and easily accommodated for!

ActivArmor devices are fit to the millimeter of the patient’s body image scan for precise immobilization.  We custom design them for comfort – exposing bony protrusions, surgical hardware and/or skin ulcers, wounds or incisions.  They also do not deform in heat, requiring re-fitting, nor do they rub or cause skin irritation like most splints as they are breathable and hygienic, and there is no fabric against the skin.

But sometimes edema (swelling) can reoccur or reduce further, water weight may increase or decrease, or muscle atrophy can occur.  Unlike traditional casts, swelling and movement under the cast can be easily seen and adjusted for with ActivArmor, to reduce risk of compartment syndrome and poor healing outcomes.

Adjustments with ActivArmor are easily made in the clinic.  Both of our removable and non-removable closure options allow space (as little or much as desired) by bi-valving the device to accommodate for swelling.  Waterproof padding comes in multiple thicknesses, and can be applied in certain areas to tighten up to a full inch, or to relieve pressure points.
