What is ActivArmor?
ActivArmor are custom 3D printed casts that support patients' active lifestyles with their unique material and design properties. An innovative digital health solution, ActivArmor is crafted from recyclable ABS plastic using cutting-edge 3D printing technology making the casts waterproof, sanitizable and breathable.
Origins and Evolution
ActivArmor emerged from CEO Diana Hall's understanding of the limitations of traditional casting methods. Inspired by her work in Chemical Engineering, and with disadvantaged youth, she saw the discomfort patients faced in old-style casts. This drove her to leverage modern technology to enhance orthopedic care.
“I knew that the technology was there to provide a better, more hygienic, more comfortable solution to traditional casting, so I looked into why it wasn’t available to the general public. I addressed the design, regulatory and business process issues, and brought 3D printed casts/splints to the U.S. consumer marketplace. They are now being provided in clinics across the country.”

How ActivArmor Works
Prescription Initiation: The patient obtains a prescription for the ActivArmor device by either 1) visiting one of our referring providers or 2) requesting that their physician order ActivArmor directly with Rx.
ActivArmor Selection: Any doctor can provide ActivArmor. If a physician is already an official provider, they can print ActivArmor on-site. If a physician has not prescribed ActivArmor before, they can contact us to choose the appropriate ActivArmor device, tailored to the patient’s specific injury or condition.
3D Scanning: Utilization of advanced technology initiates a 3D scan of the affected area. The 3D scan takes only 30 seconds in the clinic and is completely touch-free, safe and painless. It takes photos of the patient’s skin to create a 3D model of the patient’s limb.
Upload Scan Images: The captured scan images are input into our specialized design software.
Custom Design Creation: Leveraging the detailed 3D image, the software meticulously crafts a bespoke ActivArmor cast, uniquely tailored to the anatomy and needs of each individual patient.
Manufacturing Process: The finalized design is either printed on-site at a partnering provider’s office, or sent to the manufacturing team for the 3D printing process.
Shipping: The finished ActivArmor cast is fitted to the patient by our provider partners, or shipped to your doctor for fitting within 4 business days.
