My name is Dr. Jesse Abeler. I'm an orthopedic surgeon. I specialize in hand and upper extremity surgery.

I'm excited to begin using ActivArmor and we've actually been using it now for a couple of months. I'm really excited to offer it for our kids and our athletes even our active adults.

It's an alternative to a regular traditional cast which is made up of fiberglass and padding material. The combination of these things is not real water friendly and so I'm excited to use ActiveCrmor. They have a lot of different shapes and styles.

What the advantage here is it's completely waterproof it's very hygienic patients can take a shower they can wash their hands. They can do a lot of normal things that they would do in a cast however this is the benefit here is that there's much less Interruption of their normal life. Patients who enjoy water sports or especially during the summertime. The patients who are kids don't have to worry about the cast getting wet and staying wet. I always tell a patient getting an original or regular cast wet is like a Band-Aid keep a Band-Aid on for too long and the skin gets very damaged underneath. This allows the cast to breathe allows the the skin to dry out and the patients can enjoy a lot of their summer activities even though they may have had an injury.

We also get to use it postoperatively after a patient has had a wrist or an elbow injury or surgery we can customize it we can make separate little cutouts for bone stimulators or if we have to use pins but it allows even a removable version for protection rather than using a brace that is not as rigid or protective. The ActiveArmor cast becomes essentially a cast that is now removable and very customizable.

We are excited to offer printing on site which means that we get a very quick turnaround. Usually we can do it now within a about a day or so and so the advantage there is the patient is seen in clinic we prepare the cast and then they get their product very quickly which gets them back to some semblance of normal life much much more rapidly than we would normally.

Insurance companies cover this as they would cover this as they would for many types of braces. The option also is if insurance patient does not cover it is welcome to pay for it with cash. Again the advent the advantages. They're able to opt for that if their insurance does not cover it what if a patient is seeing a doctor that doesn't offer these what can they do so if a patient is seeing a doctor that doesn't offer ActiveArmor casting, we are happy to see them in the office and and provide the cast for them even if they've already had treatment somewhere else.

Obviously we are excited to see any patients that want to come see us for whatever reason but if we can offer ActiveArmor to other patients we're happy to do that as well perfect.
